Recovery for “warm-up sales” addiction

Subject: Write emails to sell

In twelve-step recovery programs, step one is to first admit that you have a problem.

The primary principle being, if you can admit you have a “problem,” you can recover from it. But that’s the catch. Because for addicts, as well as non-addicts, it’s hard to admit any problem.

But today, I’m not here to speak with you about drugs, or alcohol, or being co-dependent, or anything like that…

I’m here to talk about email.

I have noticed, there is a disgusting trend of marketers wasting peoples time with warm up emails that don’t “sell,” anything.

Meaning they have a message, usually light and witty, and “beneficial.” But with no call to action. Why? Because people are afraid to come off like a salesperson.

Phewy, people need to recover from that nonsense.

Instead of trying to “sell” the idea that you’re not “selling,” just admit you are selling and sell (for crying out loud).

Be respectful, sure. Benefit your list with tips, tricks, and half-wit humor, great.

But do the darn deed and get it over with. Stop fooling yourself. Sell your list what they signed up for already. Just saying.

It’s time to enter “warming-up the sale” recovery. I’ll be your sponsor.

On the other hand, maybe you’re a sick of writing emails. You’d like someone else to do it.

Not to worry, I can help you with that.

I write emails that sell and entertain simultaneously. It is what I am here for.
